Event: Countryside Experience

Meet: To be decided - Sun. March 4th 10:00 a.m. - Port Day La Romana

Organized by: Karen Raiche (glassbeagles)

About the event: Well Bill and I have finally decided what we are doing in La Romana. Since this is a fairly new port we have decided we are going to stick with a Carnival Excursion and go on the Countryside Experience Tour. Bill decided he would like to see some of the country so we're going to jump onto a safari truck go! I will post this on the CF page and if anyone would like to join us I know we will have a blast!!
Countryside Experience
La Romana, Dominican Republic
Departure Times 10:00 a.m.
Excursion Overview
Enjoy the serenity of rural Dominican life on this countryside land expedition.
Your journey begins with a drive, in an open-air Safari truck, to the largest sugarcane plantation in the country.
Here, you’ll taste freshly cut sugarcane right from the field and learn the traditional ways of living and working in a remote Batey village.
Your journey continues across a small rain forest to Costa Nursery, home of the country’s largest collection of cacti and orchids.
Stroll around the nursery’s colorful array of flowers before continuing on to La Romana.
View the day-to-day lifestyle of locals as you drive through the streets and then visit is a local cigar factory to see how the world famous Dominican cigars are made.
On your return journey, you’ll visit an Arts and Crafts shop where you can shop for local souvenirs made of Amber and the rare gemstone Larimar.
